The Zephyr 400 is a retro-styled naked roadster from Kawasaki, built mainly for the Japanese market where 400 cc bikes were in demand. Its air-cooled, transverse four-cylinder engine was tuned for low to mid-range usability rather than outright power. Its Z1-inspired styling and twin rear shocks helped start the naked and retro trend that spread through Europe and the UK in the early 1990s.
